Scoring and emissions

Validators turn evidence into weights; the chain turns weights into emissions. This page states the exact rules the Terza validator applies.

Quality gates

Every offer must pass all of these gates. Passing a gate earns nothing extra; failing any gate scores zero.

GateRule
EvidenceAt least 9 short exact-answer probes in the last 2 hours across 3 rounds, at least 3 of each task type, and one in the last hour. Each offer is probed about every 30 minutes; each probe has a 60-second deadline.
AccuracyAt least 75% correct.
AvailabilityAt least 90% of probes answered.
Customer trafficNo more than 1% of receipts rejected in 24 hours, and at least 90% success once there are 20 attributable requests. Purchases by the miner’s own account are excluded.
Model checkHard-task accuracy (95% upper bound) no more than 0.15 below the calibrated reference. Reasoning effort more than 3× above or below the reference halves the offer’s share and flags it for review.
MediaAt least 3 finished probes in 3 days (one within 12 hours), with availability and customer conformance of at least 90%. Media is not graded for quality.

Reference profiles are calibrated by the operator from a trusted source, never from miners. Models of the same capability tier cannot be told apart reliably; cheaper substitutes can.

Price decides the share

Within a model, offers that pass every gate share its budget by price alone, using a standard workload of 512 input and 128 output tokens:

share ∝ min(median quote ÷ this quote, 3)

A median-priced offer counts 1, a half-price offer 2, a double-price offer 0.5. Quoting below a third of the median earns nothing more. Quotes are binding: buyers pay the quoted price and are routed to the cheapest eligible offer.

From scores to weights

  1. Every model admitted through miner review is its own reward group with an equal share of the budget. Only models with at least one passing offer take part; their budget never goes unused.
  2. Within a model, passing offers share by price as above; a hotkey with several offers adds them up.
  3. Weights are normalized and submitted on chain. The validator never weights its own hotkey.

Emissions

Bittensor distributes each subnet’s emissions every epoch from the weights validators submit (Yuma consensus, stake-weighted). The subnet owner receives a fixed share (currently 18%). The remainder is split between miner incentive and validator dividends.

Subnet parameterCurrent value
Epoch (tempo)360 blocks, about 72 minutes
Validator activity cutoff5,000 blocks, about 17 hours
Weight rate limit100 blocks, about 20 minutes
Commit-revealOn, revealed after 1 epoch
Immunity period for new UIDs5,000 blocks
Maximum UIDs / validators256 / 64

When all UIDs are taken, a new registration replaces the lowest-ranked UID that is out of its immunity period. A miner that keeps no qualifying offer will lose its slot.

Values are those of Bittensor subnet 103 and can be changed by the subnet owner.
